Privacy Policy.

àlex is built on a principle of restraint. We collect only what's needed to help you stay close to the people you already love, and we never sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Account information

When you sign in with Apple, àlex receives the email address associated with your Apple ID (which may be a private relay address such as those provided by Hide My Email) and a unique, stable Apple user identifier. These are used for account authentication. We do not receive your Apple password or other Apple account details.

Profile information

You provide your name and city. You may add preferences such as interests or a favourite season, and optionally upload a profile photo. This information helps àlex tailor suggestions and provide relevant experiences.

Your Circle and contacts

Your Circle is the list of people you keep close. You build it by manually adding entries or by selecting individual contacts from your device. When you select a contact, àlex reads only the details you choose to add to that Circle entry: the contact's name, their birthday, the contact's photo (if you choose to import it), and a stable Contacts identifier used solely to prevent importing the same contact twice. àlex does not upload or access your full address book.

Private Circle data. A Circle entry can include relationships, birthdays, notes, saved links, wishes, and reminders. This information is private to you. It is not visible to the person it describes, even if they later join àlex, and is never visible to anyone else.

Information shared by mutual connection. When two people both join àlex and explicitly connect through a mutual invitation, they may see limited information about each other that they have chosen to share — such as availability status. Your private notes, wishes, and reminders about a person remain private to you and are never shown to them.

Mood check-ins and availability

When you log a mood check-in, that entry is stored so you can see your own history over time. Availability status is used to provide the feature. Both are visible only according to your explicit Circle connection and sharing choices, and are never public or searchable.

Plans and itineraries

To provide planning and sharing features, àlex stores plan titles, dates, participants, notes, and other plan details you create. Shared plans and itineraries are visible only to you and the participants you have shared them with.

Location

With your permission, àlex may use your approximate location to provide local weather and nearby experience suggestions. àlex does not collect or store a history of your precise location, and your approximate location is not sold or shared with third parties.

Calendar

When you choose to save a birthday or milestone, àlex writes that event to your device calendar, with your permission. àlex does not read your calendars.

Notifications

With your permission, àlex uses your device notification settings and an APNs device token to send or schedule app notifications and reminders.

Data storage and access controls

Data needed to provide your account, Circle, sharing, and planning features may be processed and synchronized through our infrastructure provider, Supabase. Appropriate access controls are in place to protect your account data. No absolute security claim can be guaranteed; we apply measures designed to protect your information and to limit access to your own data.

What we don't do

• We do not run ads inside àlex.
• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not share your data with advertisers or for advertising.
• There is no public directory and no searchable public profiles.
• We do not show your Circle, your private notes about the people in it, or your mood history to anyone but you, unless you have explicitly connected with someone through a mutual invite.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time. In-app, you can permanently delete your account and all data via Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, deletion, and portability of your data.
